>The Thug enemy, which are supposed to be mutated street thugs, do look kind of shit though, just seems like a visually lazy design and I think them being the most common enemy in the early game turns people off to all the sprites when they are probably the worst one of all the monsters.
Looking at the sprites on Spriter's Resource there is some outstanding work but these guys just look fucking dumb and like a shitty clay model or something. Officially they are referred to as "small mutants" but they look like a bootleg Beebop from TMNT
