I actually quite liked it despite a lot of it's flaws and quirks. The gunplay is good, the veil powers are interesting and fun, weapon upgrades are nice, the design and aesthetics are pretty good, and boss battles are not bad, the final boss is even quite good and hard.

I REALLY liked the Mauser rifle, with the damage upgrades and the bayonet, I used it as one of my main weapons, a thundering boom that drops most mooks in one shot from a long distance, and a bayonet that's good for slitting throats (especially in veil time, where you can easily slit the throat of like 5 nazis before they can even react).

I absolutely didn't like the regen health (the lack of turkey dinners and medkits is a serious flaw), and levels, while featuring a bit of fun exploration and some treasure hunting, were ultimately quite linear. Story wasn't as interesting as in Return, and the title of the game should obviously have been Wolfenstein: Black Sun
Overall, I think in many aspects, it's almost as good as Return, having a strong edge in gunplay, but having a series of smaller flaws against it.

I wouldn't mind seeing Raven having a second go at making a Wolf game, maybe they could remake Return To Castle Wolfenstein, I'd love to see that with modern graphics and 09's gunplay.

They didn't as much advertise it in the usual sense, as they let players spread the word by themselves, this is what is called "Viral Marketing" (which /v/ constantly conflates with "Guerilla Marketing"), they had already established fame with their Commander Keen games, so people were already curious about their upcoming game.

Of course, Doom came along, and blew it out of the water, but Wolf 3D remains important.

Oh yeah, it's just the right kind of Arcade actiongame I like.
They should have made an Arcade cabinet.

Damn, Strife was cool as fuck, I kind wish it had done better so they could have made a sequel. Then of course, they'd have gone for the Quake engine by then, and then they wouldn't have had all that wonderful and beautiful spritework. Strife seriously had beautiful sprites and textures, very smooth animations and everything. Setting was interesting too.
