Go ahead anon, recommend me some good mahjong games, visual novels, and horse betting games.

I think RPG's and Visual Novels helped a lot, stuff like Sakura Taisen and Super Robot Wars, as well as the huge arcade selection which was still booming in Japan, karaoke and VCD support, and other software like those music videos that came on a disc. Pretty much Saturn covered the Super Famicom, PC Engine, and to some degree the Mega Drive market in Japan, while N64 had none of those kinds of games and catered more towards children. PS1 at least had a lot of the same stuff as well. Not my favorite SEGA console, but I probably prefer it over the N64 as an adult.
