The fan remake has been canceled, Capcom announced an official RE2make back in August. They were nice and let the mod team meet with them for input though.

There's a pretty good chance that it won't be RE4-style:

Every play Winback? How about Syphon Filter? Nothing was stopping them from doing a 3D shooting fest. This is like when Bethesdafags claim the original Fallout games were isometric due to technical limitations even though Arena was in 1st person.
