What games are worth playing on this thing?

I have my personal favorites but if we're talking about VALUE the runner up has got to be Game Gear. They're cheap and the games are cheap. The flash card is much more expensive than ones for Gameboy though and the screen is pretty muddy with inefficient battery devouring florescent backlighting. Without some kind of screen mod ALL of these backlit retro handhelds will eat you out of house and home if you play them on battery power. When you combine the low res, high latency old displays with the size and the constant reminder of battery vampirism I have a hard time playing with a console like this over emulating on a smaller, brighter, higher resolution rechargeable modern handheld emulator.

However! The Game Gear IS cheap and the games are cheap and - my favorite quality of the GameGear - it's backward compatible with Master System using a fairly simple adapter! So between the GG and MS libraries there's quite a selection of Sega style games for it and it's definitely affordable for a beginning collector to get into.
