/vr/ - Retro Games

I don't know if King's Field was supposed to be a spooky game, but not having music, low poly enviroment, slow gameplay and lack of NPCs make it a really spooky experience.

Are these games import friendly or is there lots of dialogue / textual guidance

Some considerations:

1. I like RPGs. I don't really like JRPGs (broadly speaking) because they tend to make heavy use of Japanese tropes. I'm happy with games like Shin Megami Tensei, or those made by FromSoftware or Yasumi Matsuno, since they keep the Japaneseness to a minimum.
2. I'm not into lighthearted videogames. For instance, between Kirby & Mario or Castlevania I will pick the latter all the time. Something like Zelda is also what I consider "lighthearted".

I like the following genres:

Roleplaying: e.g. Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics.
Action-adventure: e.g. Legacy of Kain, Shadow of the Colossus.
Cinematic platformer: e.g. Abe's Oddysee.
Stealth: it would appear Metal Gear is pretty much the only go-to Stealth game on consoles.
Survival horror: I'm looking to get into this genre. Aside from Resident Evil and Silent Hill, what would be some good picks?

I LOVED Cuphead (Run and gun + boss rush) and Hollow Knight (Metroidvania), so anything that scratches those itches would be fine too.
