Yeah, it doesn't have too active a playerbase but they're still hard at work making new things for it.

I blame the lack of publicity; if more people knew of it I think more people would play it.

My personal favorite is 6. It has its problems but the the premise of it and the RM designs I just love.

I also think six is the best. Mainly because I like the Robot Masters from that game the most.

I think OP meant him playing X for the first time was inspired by hearing the excitement for Mighty No. 9.

Truth be told, I'm surprised it took this long for someone to point out the awkward wording.

I came from /mlp/, visited this board the day it got announced out of curiosity -- I avoided /v/ like the plague -- and I was immediately surprised by how nice the board was. I don't even go to /mlp/ anymore, just here. This board got me into some game series I had never tried before, notably NES games because my oldest console was an SNES.

This board isn't as much as a gleaming beacon as it was -- shitposters (or rather people feeding shitposters and causing their number to increase) and retro police and all that -- but it was always expected for that to happen, and I still greatly enjoy the tone of most of this board.

Since you asked for a/s/l, 18/M/'Murrica.

I started with 1 and recommend you do the same. It's harder and glitchier than most of the series, but if you can beat it, then when you get to 2 you'll be able to see how 2 is so much better than 1. If you're absolutely stuck on a boss look up the Select glitch.

After that, 2-6 are all great games with their own strengths and weaknesses.

7 has more weaknesses than strengths, and I personally believe it to be the weakest of the games. However, it has its fans, and I personally found enjoyable sections (Shade Man is top-tier), so I'd recommend you check it out.

8 isn't as good as 1-6 either, but it's better than 7, and besides the Jump Jump sections it's a solid enough game.

To 9 and 10; I haven't played 10, but 9 was GREAT and I've been told 10 is the same. 9 has a lot of references to past games in its design, so I'd recommend playing 1-8 first.\

As to X, I've only played X1-X2 and I recently started X3. The first two games I'd recommend.

>Robot masters are pretty bad

But I think the RMs from 6 are awesome. Tomahawk Man, Knight Man, Centaur Man, and Yamato Man all kick ass.
