Trinitron is common parlance for any aperture grille monitor. Like Kleenex for facial tissue.

Those "crap-tier" monitor are actually pretty good and I'd snap one up in a second if I came across one for a cheap price.

Sony's own aperture grille monitors are some of the finest CRTs ever made, G2 brightness issue aside. And plenty of them do not suffer from that problem.

But you just go ahead and pass them up. More for the rest of us.
