Show me 5 from 1999 or earlier then. You wont because the retro game mags were the most brutally honest, authentic. and truthful reviews games have ever had. Regardless if you're talking new or old they can't be beat. You're just running your underageb& mouth about dank gamergate shit.

It's the hipster game. It released garbage and still is garbage. Nobody liked it back then not even reviewers. It was promoted well by Nintendo but still failed. On top of its hipster status it somehow got this title as "holy grail" ultra rare game.

It's a "I like it because my fav eceleb likes it" situation.

It's pretty bad.

The ultimate bottom line is that nobody bought it, which is why there were so many unopened copies available for a long time. Smash Brothers having Ness in it turned it into an artificial "cult classic", on top of the modern concept of big-box games that come with bonus items being more collectible.

Nobody wanted to pay $80 for a RPG like Earthbound released between Final Fantasy 2 and Chrono Trigger. All of the Mother games combined including Earthbound sold less than any random mediocre Square RPG.
