Say hello to the king of the 5th generation

Let’s say the 3DO was a bit more successful than it was taking some sales from the ps1 and saturn and kept getting games until at least 1997. What was the technical ceiling of the 3do, could it have run tomb raider or ports of pc games like quake?

Shouldn't that be the 3DO? The 3DO company was American, the 3DO hardware was designed by them.

Does this thing actually have any good exclusives? Or even just the best (or a good) port of something?

Any good recommendations for this thing? I checked the wiki but there’s only like 10 games listed on there. Tried looking through the library and a lot of it is either trashy FMV stuff, educational stuff or strip mahjong. Is there any gem in the rough I’m missing. Currently got Wolf 3D, Alone in the Dark, SF2T and Return Fire ready to go but that’s it really. I’ve already played Gex (on Saturn) and don’t wish to play it again

Found one of these at a yard sale a few years ago, but the laser is dead. Any ideas on where to source a replacement or drive emulator type solution?

So, I use to own a Panasonic 3DO way back in the day, I had Road Rash, Road and Track Presents: The Need For Speed and Cran N Burn. I ended up selling my 3DO for a Sega Saturn.

I am on a nostalgia kick right now and I have been emulating 3DO games. I really had the urge to play the original Need for Speed on the 3DO again, as it it one of my favorite games for the system. I prefer the 3DO version of the original NFS over the later PS1 and Saturn ports.

I'm looking for other 3DO games to emulate. Does it have anything else worth playing?

It is late 1992 and the 3DO is in mid-development stage. You are a software technician working alongside Trip Hawkins. Hawkins is serisouly considering having people other than Panasonic finish up and distribute the 3DO. What will you do to convince him to change his mind on letting people like Goldstar(at least for the Western game market) go ahead and make their versions of the 3DO. Do you try and convince him to stick solely with Panasonic, or just be more selective on who is allowed to manufacture 3DO system models, jump ship, or other?
