Different Anon here:
>1) How old were you and what year did you first play Doom?
I was born 92', and I think I first played Doom when I was 6 or 7 years old.
I remember I thought it was the coolest shit, and also that it was the spookiest shit, it was dark and the monsters were photorealistic.
I think I liked it so much because of the same reason I liked Diablo, it was really dark and violent. I guess I was an edgy kid.

>2) What are your 10 favourite first person shooters of all time? (including both retro and non-retro)
Hm, I always had trouble outright ranking favorites like that, but I'll give it a shot, in alphabetical order:
Doom (from Doom 1 to Final Doom)
Doom 3 (despite it's flaws)
Fallout: New Vegas (also despite it's flaws)
Far Cry 3
Goldeneye 64
Half-Life
Half-Life 2
Quake 2
Return To Castle Wolfenstein
Wolfenstein 09'

I still love Doom (obviously because I'm still here), and even though I've been spoiled rotten by fancy modern mods, I will never deny that classic vanilla Doom is still really fun, even if it's one of the shitty Gameboy Advance ports, or the BFG Edition for the PS3. Fags will say nostalgia goggles, but no, Doom was, and still is, genuinely a fun game.
I play mainly on UV and sometimes on HMP.
