Even if the plot is basically standard stuff, Ocarina of Time still has the best presentation of its story in the franchise. From Link's dream, the goddess stories, even secondary characters like Saria. The N64 Zeldas really are the best the franchise has to offer with storytelling and atmosphere.

Every Zelda since OOT has recycled at least some of Ocarina's plot elements, which says a lot about the game, I feel. And it's become progressively more difficult to care about the story, plot or characters in every Zelda since. Nearly every major character in BOTW is a rehash of an OoT character, for example.

I seriously hope you guys don't do this. Go and fire up Super Metroid in an emulator or actual SNES and tell me what you see if you simply let it sit there for a while. Beating the game makes NO FUCKING DIFFERENCE because you can't save your game after beating it.
