I remember liking it too, it was different but it had nice things like creating your own ninja and a shitton of missions, could probably be the Tenchu with more content. But I also remember the ranking system being fucked up and it probably has "aged" (I don't like the word but you know what I mean) worse than the Ps2 games, art direction wasn't too good and like most early games from that gen they just looked worse than the last games of the preceding gen. If you liked the realist setting Fatal Shadows was 100% that, personally my favourite in the series.
I miss Tenchu so much, you can't really say any series have replicated what made Tenchu so great, besides Shinobido and it's even more forgotten.
