/vr/ - Retro Games

Um.. /vr/ this might be a stupid question, but... Is it ok if I really enjoy this game. I get how jumping is clunky but I kinda like it. I would put it on no.3 on my favourite Castle Vania games. Am I the only one.

So when I first got my N64 about a year ago, I saw a castlevania cart at the store and picked it up, along with a few others. I popped it in and saw it wasn't a platformer and put it aside to play the other games I got. I'm playing it right now, and I gotta tell ya, its pretty damn difficult.

How do you guys feel about Castlevania 64?

I absolutely enjoy Castlevania 64. The atmosphere was amazing, first game to truly scare me. The controls were shitty as hell, no continuity at all, but the game has a charm about it that I love.
Sense it was there first try with a 3D Castlevania, I don't hold it against them for how it turned out.

Why do people hate this game so much? I played both characters and Legacy of Darkness and thought they were pretty solid for the N64.
Too much comparison to SOTN or OOT?

I fucking love Castlevania but this...

I really loved the hell out of this game and its sequel and consider them some of the best in the series, of which I've played nearly all of them.

Castlevania 64

The secrets aren't that hard to find, it's the monsters that are putting me off. Maybe I'll just stay far away from Dracula's castle and live an ordinary mid-19th century live.
