Reminder that Sonic 1 is better on GG than on SMS.

The other 8-bit Sonic games were developed by another dev, and those may or may not be better on SMS than on GG (Sonic 2 surely is, just because of the first boss), but Sonic 1 is definitely a GG experience, accept no substitute.

The Master System version of Sonic 1 isn't even acknowledged by Yuzo, he only ever mentions the GG version (which is better as it has more graphical details/colours, a proper splash screen, and better designed screen layout despite the smaller resolution).
Easily the best 8-bit Sonic game.

People already commented on the GG/Sega System games.
They're fine (mostly 1 and Chaos, 2 sucks), but they aren't "real" Sonic games, they're regular platformers, decent ones at that, but they don't have the same physics as Sonic 1 (which is the perfect and golden standard for Sonic)

Anyone know which region is this version of Sonic 1? I'm from south america and got this many years ago, and I think it might be the european version, but not sure.
This is also my favorite cover on any Sonic game.

Anyway, Sonic 1 on GG is pretty good, surprisingly challenging too.
Sonic 2 is maybe a bit too challenging, right from the get go you have to fight that annoying centipede boss, fuck that shit, I remember the frustration as a kid, then when you get past it, you're thrown into a level with strange flying mechanics and confusing level design, never got further than that, I don't think.
Sonic Chaos was pretty good, it was my first GG game and loved it.
Sonic Blast is a disaster.

Tail's SkyPatrol is pretty good.

I also prefer the JP one, but I think the american wasn't all that bad either, it was just more cool than cute (while the japanese was both cute and cool).
