ITT: Games with horrendous slowdowns that were somehow accepted by the public and are well remembered.

Ill start with super ghouls and ghosts. Tried to pick it back up the other day and I just couldn't get past the insane fps drops during heavy action. The genesis port from the arcade game never had this problem.

Another one I miss alot. Odallus, Oniken and I think LastManOnEarth (the submarine metroid game) are pretty neat, except for the nes graphics.

Majora's mask is a bucket list game I just completed a couple of months ago. It's definitely great if it follows OoT.

Super Ghouls and Ghosts is mine. I refuse to let level 2 be the furthest I've ever gotten.

I decided to give it a try, one full playthrough per day.
The third playthrough I ended it.
The fifth I ended the true ending.

The 4th gen and earlier isn't really about having stories.
It is about the overall experience and becoming "good" at the game.
It is about beautiful mechanics, well thought out controls, and innovative play.
It is about how play, graphics, and sound come together overall to form a cohesive feeling, and provide challenge.
The length of a game from start to finish could be 30 minutes, but it might take hundreds of hours to beat.
Not because of narrative length or even amount of content but because you must master the mechanics by playing the first 3 levels over and over and over until you master the game.

Easy to play.
Hard to master.

That is what the 4th gen used to be about.
You are barking up the wrong tree.
The 5th gen is where stories start coming in.

GnG and SGnG without a doubt best punishment platformers ever made with some of the most badass box art ever made.

Super GnG is probably one of my favorites of all time.

Never in a million years did I think I would learn to love the ghouls and ghosts series. Shit was literally impossible as a child.
