Idk man, I've heard my fair share of younger people try og RE4 and couldn't really get into it, let alone the older games, I don't expect them to but whenever I get into convos about video games I usually try and talk to people about popular series and see what there thoughts are.
I won't say it's outright bad, but the remakes just come across as very safe highlight reels of the OG games, RE4 especially.
Say what you will about how it and 5 changed the directory of the franchise, id personally argue it was doing that since 2 & 3, but RE4 is just an otherwise well designed game from beginning to end. The pacing is pretty damn solid and the only real issue I have with the gameplay is how much pausing is done throughout due to weapon switching, also the ability to switch the camera to a different shoulder would've been nice but I could cherry pick all day if I wanted.
Not to mention it's a pretty easy game when you get the mechanics down but the experience is otherwise so fast and flows so well I got hypnotized my last playthrough because it has been a few years and spent the better part of a whole day playing through it.
It's not perfect, but it's damn close to it at times.

I knew about DMC being a proto RE4 at one point, it's crazy to think about the few games that spawned from its development.
