My argument is saying pc gaming unironically didn't matter in that ere was a ridiculous statement. Trying to then base your point on low sales of games is equally nonsensical. I'm saying games then were so easily pirated on computers that virtually everyone who had one had boatloads of games on it.

We all played Wolfenstien, Doom, Civilization, Star Control, King's Quest, Sim City, Flight Simulator etc etc and virtually never knew anyone who had actually bought them. It wasn't really a poverty thing, it was much more practical like emulating old games now. Why spend money to buy Doom 2 when your neighbor can just give you a free copy? Why go out and buy used Genesis carts in 2024 when every game is freely available to play? Buy it or don't, it's how things were.

That's because you only had and paid attention to consoles. There were fully 3D games on computers since the early 80's. For me there was no hard transition so it's impossible not to see games like Arctic Fox as retro.
