>SquareSoft's output on the SNES was great, it was just bad on the PlayStation and PS2!
>It just WAS, OKAY??
SquareSoft's production values went through the roof starting with FF7, the quality of the games they produced improved exponentially as a result, and SNES drones have been seething ever since.

>uses a SNES game as an example
Of RPG Maker shit, yes. Reading comprehension. PlayStation RPG's look, sound, plays, and has far more depth than anything to be found on the SNES.

7 > 9 > 8, however all 3 are excellent, and leagues ahead of those RPG Maker SNES predecessors.

>SNES filler
>"Greatest FF"
Final Fantasy never achieved greatness under Nintendo.

They "don't count" because Squaresoft's output was underwhelming and disappointing before picrel, thanks the greater freedom afforded both by being off Nintendo's leash, and also by not being held down by the flawed and debilitating SNES hardware anymore. But, thank you for proving my point, I knew you wouldn't be able to come up with anything.

Obvious bait. FF7 was the first one that was actually good, sorry you never got a good one on your "16-bit JRPG powerhouse" the SNES.

>What are some opinions you have about retro games that amount to heretical blasphemy?
I do see more people agreeing with me on this front lately. But, Squaresoft didn't really hit their prime until they moved away from Nintendo. FF7 was leagues better than any of the previous iterations, and FF8, FF9, FFX only served to improve the series further, aesthetically and in terms of gameplay. Chrono Cross is far better than Trigger. Aside from that, Square mostly was pumping out cookie-cutter RPGs for the SNES, which were largely forgettable, or otherwise too limited or flawed to be interesting, when compared to other RPGs of the time. Their output on the Playstation was infinitely better than their output on the SNES.
