So I've stumbled upon the soundtrack for this game called "Illusion City" and it's pretty sick.

Turns out it's an old MSX jrpg that never got released to the US.

Been dying to try to find a proper english patch but I haven't had any luck. Anyone else know anything about this game?

On another note that could be a good conversation starter, what other old Cyberpunk-kinda games would you guys suggest? Whether it be shit like Deus Ex or Snatcher or Psychonauts.

Illusion City is a sweet RPG but it does seem better on the Mega CD it's a shame that one wasn't the one that was translated and that the existing translation is incomplete. I enjoyed Treasure of Usas and Welcome To Heaven quite a bit. There are a lot of obscure games on MSX that are quite playable without Japanese literacy which is more than can be said about most retro Japanese computers.

Illusion city
Translation was never finished because of autistic shits that harassed the translator.

Didn't remember to post some Yukio, so here we go.

Notice the line of spheres arcing around the corner? I wonder if they're supposed to represent the sound of a monorail passing behind the building, since he represents sounds through visual abstractions like these in other illustrations.

I agree that something about the MSX makes its platformers' physics feel "heavy" but I'm a real platformer guy so I've adjusted and just sort of take it as a charming part of the texture.

However, I must admit when I play something like Vampire Killer that can be directly compared to Castlevania, the physics and the screen-by-screen layout feels clumsy.

Also how has this thread gone this long without anyone mentioning Illusion City? It's real good but so frustrating the final disk remains untranslated.. There are a shit-ton of early JRPGs on MSX I wish more of them were translated I find them fascinating.
