As someone who wrote my Masters on yakuzas' modes of doing business - pic related. They are utterly insignificant economically and their main job is to provide what's illegal, but in demand: gambling and hookers. And they are so low scale it's laughable when you consider the kind of "esteem" they have as this super-special organised crime.

As for Squenix - they simply have massive, truly massive capital to burn. Money they've earned as two separate entities and then in early years after the merger. And they are fuck-huge in Japan.

It's not about conspiracy theory, but rather imput vs output.
Costs of making entire LAU were pocket change and marketing was even cheaper than just releasing TR'13. So they profit LAU made was few magnitudes over what the costs of making it were, while nu-Lara can barely scratch the point of making profit at all and it takes a lot of time to reach that point. Daily reminder that unless game sells well in first 90 days, shit's fucked. And it was always true, both in the 80s, 90s, 00s and now.

This is why he was so adamant on patents - because once he had one, there was nobody saying he didn't invent something. Which, naturally, he didn't.

Not sure what's worse. The fact I'm laughing or because the coal mine shaft in the picture is from my town.

kek. So much this. I also have know idea who any of these youtubers are. When you work for a living you find there is much better shit to watch in your freetime on netflix/amazon/hulu. The idea of watching someone review vidya on youtube makes me cringe.
