Because Fallout 1 & 2 have extremely vapid writing and John Gonzalez's writing in New Vegas elevated the series to place it wasn't before, even if New Vegas lacks the roleplaying options of the isometric games. The only people that think otherwise either haven't played the old games in decades or just pretend to play them online.
