The fact that Mario grows and shrinks always bothered my autism. He couldn't do that in Donkey Kong and it is just a strange power. So I have pieced together this story that Super Mario Bros is supposed to be like Mario and Luigi doing shrooms and having a bad trip together where they dream that the girl from Donkey Kong is now a princess and all the sewer turtles from Mario Bros have some kind of king that they answer to who is like the Donkey Kong of the sewer turtles. And in their dream world, doing more shrooms makes them stronger and keeps them in the dream world for longer. Then in Super Mario Bros 3, they are performing a play or something inspired by their dream.

Anyway, I prefer the original.
