I really dislike Mode 7. It just looks like a piece of paper. In a racing game that uses it as a track it looks like you are driving on a piece of paper with an inked in track. When I played Axelay for a bit it was just so jarring how the background scrolled that it became fairly distracting because it just didn't mesh well. Hell even the scrolling for the stage just looked bad as well. Hell it even looks like a piece of paper that was given an arch in that picture. It would have benefited aesthetically to drop Mode 7 and just have standard vertical scrolling.
