don't mean for this thread to devolve into a flame war, but it is something I have noticed in the past few years, particularly with the 3D-era GTA titles.

Back in the '00s, pretty much everyone who owned the PC versions of III/VC/SA compulsively modded them with minimal tools and working directly with the game data through stuff like IMGTool.
Since then, as our understanding has significantly grown, we've started to reverse engineer the titles and developed mod loaders which dynamically load the mods on top of the game, thus allowing them to be quickly removed and added back in as per a user's wishes. It has literally never been easier to pick up a copy of these games and begin modding them, as more and more things have become standardized.

And yet, the majority of people still modding are the same people from 10+ years ago. Every time you bring the topic up on /v/, /vg/, dicksword, jewtube or any forums the responses from those unfamiliar are almost always the same - "Who has time for that?" "I'd mod if it wasn't so hard" etc. etc.

>third parties beg to be in smash
>but Nintendo has to pay millions for shitty ports of third party games

I legitimately wouldn't be surprised if Atlus, et al made more money from Smash than actually releasing games for the switch.
