In retrospect, now that I think about it, back then I did visit a lot of colleges with their anime clubs. Every one of them had 2 or 3 people that imported the Saturn to show off the games. I eventually got my own Saturn when my launch PS1 needed to be placed on its side/upside-down to play games, and immediately modded it with a region switch. Every Saturn owner knew they had to get games direct from Japan anyway, such that even stores like EB, Software Etc., Babbages, etc. carried Japanese Saturn games. Never did realize that it may have been a possible reason for the now known poor decision of a surprise early US launch.

Glad this was my primary system at the time. It was affordable since all the games were in bargain bins and the games which are geared to my preferences are in abundance. It was a magical time.

I guess it had a lot of games which was appealing to a large amount of players. It did that for me, and became one of my most favorite systems of all time. I think the Mega Drive just did not have as many appealing games in its day to its contemporaries in the Famicom and PC-Engine. As for the Dreamcast, there were so many which were hotly anticipating the PS2 when they released the theoretical specs prior to the system's release willing to wait it out.

Give Cotton 2 and Einhander a try. Thunder Force 5 is worth the playthough as well.

Despite all the hate the system gets, it is one of my top5 favorite consoles of all time up there with the PC-Engine/Duo/SuperGrafx, NES, SNES, Genesis/Mega Drive. With all the games in clearance bins, I've amassed over 300 titles for it, and maybe that's why I appreciate the variety it offers. I get that Sega is not popular nor are the games on the systems everyone's cup of tea, but arcade gaming is a joy I love to partake in.

No real idea since I have been hearing that this COVID thing has spiked prices up. Which is odd coinciding with unemployment being up as well in this period. Even my work has cut hours while raising the pay grade but on the overall, I'm paid less. Back then Saturn games were real cheap, as that's how I got most of the games I have, but even titles like the one there, Hyper Duel, got expensive fast from its low print run and generally fun gameplay. Shooting games has its fans like me, so it stays relevant. If anything I'd recommend MAME, as that is how I enjoy the games too.

There is about a 4MB size limit for pics here on 4chan which my dumbphone scrapes up against. This is mostly what I have here. I enjoy the games despite all the hate the system gets on this board.

I must not be good, as I prefer the one with homing shots.

It's somewhere around here. I've gone and lost it amongst all the other arcade ports. Could you help me find it.

Rummaging through clearance bins and junk sections to get hundreds of fun game playing hours for the system has been great. Without noticing, I think the amount of physical games I got and enjoyed for the system exceeded the Super Famicom games I have and only eclipsed by the 360. The Saturn is definately one of my top 10 most favorite consoles of all time.

I remember ordering it from Buy-Rite for $55 back then. They were not the most favored game store around, but they at least were comitted to undercutting their competitors. I was hyped for the game as Treasure made some fun games on the Genesis, so it was worth the gamble for $55, but at $200, I would recommend you pair a Saturn pad to a 360 and get it on XBLA for just $5. Despite all the hate Treasure gets on /vr/, I do like Radiant Silvergun's play mechanics, visuals, and music a lot. Also Saturn emulation is pretty good, Between Yabuse, SSF, Mednafen, and MAME you can play the game without spending any more.

Thunder Force V has spent more time in my CD player than in the Saturn. The game disc has been used more for its redbook audio than the included arranged series soundtrack. Unfortunately the Playstation version cannot be played in my CD-player.

I have over 300 games for the system, and I can honestly respond with "no," but it is still one of my most favorite consoles. In part it could be personal fond memories playing great games because at that time no one wanted them, and almost all the games were in bargain bins.
