Golden Axe II or Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2.

Born in 1995, but all I can remember of my childhood is coming home from nursery and seeing my brother and cousin pounding through Megadrive games, Golden Axe II just happened to be the one that appealed to me most.

Got THPS2 for Christmas back in 2000, was the happiest day of my life

Because most japanese played sega games in the arcade so there was no need to buy the console. Arcade games are still popular in japan.

Japanese Mega Drive in general had better packaging art than their western counterparts. I don't know what was Sega's excuse for having different covers in different regions. It's not like the packaging were oriented differently between regions like the SNES.
