I was actually going to mention this and agree. I think Amano is a better actual artist, but Nomura is a better game artist. His designs translate better into games than Amano's do, and like in FFIX especially his designs and the actual characters look almost nothing alike.

But I the few times when they do actually base the in game graphics heavily on his work the results were amazing. At least I still think VI and it's art is pretty amazing.

I dream that with the processing power we have now we might someday get a game that's an Okami style 3D that looks like an Amano painting in motion.

Agh, I hated that place. I remember going a week without playing before I worked up the patience to get through it.

Atma Weapon was badass, though.
