This was what I was originally trying to say. Using a border for "pixel perfect" recreation in emulators is, in my opinion, the only way to play them.

Because higher resolutions make for blockier graphics. These old consoles didn't have massive screens, and that's why filters exist, to soften the edges a little.

And claiming that upscaling them (even with integer scaling) makes it look better makes me think you're a fucking retard.
