Starting with Shining in the Darkness is a good time, it was fun making all the maps on graph paper. But it's the later tactical RPG entries (1, 2, 3, and the game gear entries/CD) that the series is really known for, and they're quite fun. Avoid the PS2 and later nu-Shining games.

Pyra legit almost got someone murdered out of spite and that makes her lose points with me, even if she did pop up in that weirdo Climax Landers game as one of the few characters with any goddamn sense.

No you can leave the dungeon, there's a shortcut back to the city near where you enter the dungeon.

Grinded a bit and bought better weapons. Had a much easier time defeating enemies.
