>Use S-video
If you've ever A-B tested S-video and RGBs you wouldn't be saying that.
Also Model 2 Genesis has RGB out of the box but no S-Video and it seems a little dumb to do a mod for LOWER quality video.

>colors are off
you can flash your own palettes, dummy

NES composite is fucking AWFUL. It's almost passable on a low-res consumer set with a comb filter, but even then it's got shit tons of dot crawl on vertical lines and the black and white doorway shadows in Mario 2 turn into faggot rainbows. On a sharp PVM that lacks a comb filter everything is unbearably shitty.

Anyways I found a cheap used Startech transcoder for 30 so I ordered it for shits and giggles. I also found this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/191876964053

Which would at least seem to be guaranteed to work with RGBs and has easy compatibility with >scart meme. No reviews on the item itself, but the seller has a bunch of positive reviews from people who bought that item.

It kind of looks like a well-done homebrew job of something so I might buy one and see if I can reverse engineer his design. I found a couple specs for transcoders floating around, but I'm still not sure exactly how to handle generation of the color burst signal.
