I don't understand the 8bitdo pad hate on /vr./ This is my absolute favorite controller for 2D gaming. I use it to play anything 8-bit and 16-bit that I don't have hardware for, as well as PlayStation 2D and fightan games. It could be better if it were as wide as the original Genesis 3-button pad but besides that it's a 9/10.
I wouldn't bother buying the SNES one unless you want it for nostalgia since you can easily map its buttons onto this, and Sega-style dpad > all.

Feel like I'm shilling since I posted this yesterday but pic related is my favorite controller for all retro gaming. They make Genesis-compatible versions as well.
Buy it if you want, don't buy it if ya don't.

Who cares, this is /vr/. Pic related is my favorite controller for all retro gaming.

I use my 8bitdo M30 for everything 2D and for 3D games I use the Dualshock 3. Dualshock 4 is better but I actually use it and don't feel like re-syncing between my PS4 and my computer all the time.

What they said. Don't get a SNES-style 8bitdo controller, it's just a worse Dualshock. However, the Genesis-style one is absolutely god tier

Good stuff OP. I elected not to get a SNES-type controller and just use one of the Dualshock 3/4s I have lying around.
Just ordered pic related for fightan and 2D platformers though, very excited for it to arrive.
