I wouldn't want anyone but Kawazu behind such a remake, or a SaGa game in general. Anything that is "sane" means predictable, run of the mill, something that can be seen all over in all the other JRPG's. People who play/like the SaGa series play it because a lot of its game mechanics aren't the norm.

Kawazu also made my favorite JRPG and it also just happens to be a remake of a SNES game, Romancing SaGa. To remove him from a SaGa game is to remove the very essence of what the SaGa games are. It can easily be seen in Final Fantasy Legend III which is the only SaGa game not made by Kawazu.
