Not quite in this case. junfangames has the v3 which has the real time clock so you can play Animal Crossing. Also guaranteed updates and no need to reset to save. But you'll pay a bit more, it's somewhere near $100. Also you'll have to deal with a taobao agent and wait for it to come from China. I can see why the $63 option would be appealing here.

You got it wrong, the cheap one doesn't have dedicated sram("save ram" and battery to keep it "alive" when n64 is off), so it has to be reset so that it goes back to the everdrive menu, which backs up the in-game to sd card(and then loads that save when you start the game up next time). The expensive/v3.0 has dedicated sram and battery(which also acts as RTC, although its only used by one japanese game), so your in-game save gets saved there, and then next time you turn n64 on in-game save gets saved from the sram to sd-card etc.

So yeah, its feature(and reason why v3.0 is more expensive too).
