For me they are fun to collect, I really like the vertical form factor for retro games, but I've also admittedly never spent that much on one of these handhelds. Mine range from the $20-$40 mark with the most "expensive"/powerful one I've bought being the V90. Pretty much I see them more as fun trinkets than serious devices to game on.

Now about the Vita part, while I don't have a high end Anbernic or other handheld, I do have a Chromebook that can handle everything up to Saturn and some GameCube. What I can say is on these handhelds everything works out of the box, there's not a whole lot you need to do. Android and Chromebook are similar, just download your emulators from the Play Store and you're ready to go.

With Vita on the other hand you have to jailbreak it or install cfw first, which takes more time and effort. There's also the prospect of things like Saturn and GameCube emulation which handhelds like the Retroid Pocket 2+ or Ayn Odin can handle but probably isn't great on something like Vita. As these become more powerful we'll eventually see stuff like Wii and 3DS emulation as well.

Finally there's nothing wrong with owning more than one handheld, I've seen people who have PSP, 3DS, Vita, and like a dozen of these emulator handhelds. There's no need to stick to only one when there are so many. Anyway I hope you enjoy your Vita anon and be sure to post pics

Honestly I wouldn't obsess over it too much, if you want to guarantee good NES support just pick up an AN-08 or something similar that lets you add your own games

Also as much as I like seeing things like Miyoo Mini/Plus and RG35XX it would be really nice if there were more budget vertical options like the AN08 but without the silly SUP logo. Imo it's a very nice handheld though, even has shoulder buttons for GBA and SNES.

I have the budget version of that one (RG99), it's great. Was my favorite for a while. The AN08 (pic) has nice shoulder buttons as well imo, but it's no where near as powerful as the 300, especially on stock firmware. You might like the RG35xx as well but I can't speak for the quality of that one as I've never owned one or held it.

Too expensive for a handheld. Currently rocking pic related for my quick gaming fix, perfect for a quick game of Bloodlines or Sonic 2.
