Isn't that just as true for literally everything though? Is there literally any fandom without a dark side?
"Everyone who likes this thing is a weirdo except for me" is just a sad thing to say and it doesn't really do you any favors. That judgemental mindset is the exact reason why when people say they like something they have to clarify that they're not one of those creeps who send death threats to the writers who give the wrong romantic interests to the characters, or one of those spergs who wear branded diapers in public. Obviously I'm not saying you have to condone that fringe behavior, but when you keep perpetuating the idea that everyone is like that, when they're just a loud minority, you're just hurting your own image.
