It's really not that hard*.
If you have a modern PC then just use Pete's opengl2 and a proper bios like scph1001.bin. The rest of the default stuff should be fine unless you have a really old PC or are playing a really obscure game that epsxe doesn't have a fix for.
*on Windows at least - I'm currently trying to install it in linux but it relies on old dependences (gtk2 libraries, etc.) so it's a real pain to set up.

Otherwise I will try to get it to work with wine but if that doesn't work then I think I might throw in the towel and use duckstation instead unless there are any better suggestions?
