If anyone wants a crash course on the history of this thing:

>Nintendo wanted a CD add-on for the SNES
>Partnered with Sony to develop one
>There would be two versions: An "all in one" SNES/CD combo called the PlayStation that would exclusively be made by Sony (this is what is pictured in the OP), and a CD player add-on that would fit into the bottom of existing SNESs
>The two devices would function identically, only one would require you to already own an SNES (The PlayStation was basically a Nintendo version of the Genesis CDX)
>The deal stated that Sony would have complete control over the CD-based games, while Nintendo would retain control over the Cartridge-based games
>Sony would be free to manufacture the "PlayStation" model and basically do whatever they want with it (notice how there are barely any Nintendo logos on the PlayStation)
>When it came to SNES CD games, Nintendo was basically a third party developer for Sony
>Nintendo saw this was a bad deal and chose to publicly humiliate Sony by abandoning them shortly after the PlayStation's announcement
>This lead to the Sony PlayStation we have today and the downfall of Nintendo's supremacy

Looking back Nintendo probably should have tried to negotiate a better deal with Sony. The decision they made is probably one of the worst decisions in the history of videogames.
