It is not all bad, I heard there are some games that PAL regions got which are superior to the ones released in NTSC regions, like supposedly there are better Wipeout games. I think it was just how TVs were, being 50kHz opposed to 60kHz but at least you had a more widely adopted option of picture/color clarity with SCART connectors. If anything you could import and use some power converters. There are probably a few repair tutorials online if you are handy in fixing electronics.

I remember hearing that Psygnosis was one of the key developers of the middleware tools used for a lot of games made for the console. I guess it was cool that it was not a splash screen when booting a game up to advertise its own engine.

I think the Playstation one probably has the best graphics and most features.

Supposedly the definitive version of Mickey Mania is only for that region.

Had no idea, may have to give it a try one day.

Are there any other notable games that have a better Euro version aside from these?

SegaCD is the best I could play, but this guy >>4306123 knows.

I will agree, the game was tossed out in an alley with the X'eye and other games I would not have gotten for myself and when I played it I was expecting something as tight as Castle of Illusion and was kind of put off. It looks and sounds great, but the gameplay felt weird to me.

Mickey Mania got a superior PlayStation port with better visuals and effects. Using polygons to do its 3D rather than pixel art line scrolling trickery. More environmental animations and colors.

Funny, I did at that time and through practice and using the S-gun, the game was still beatable with the stock lives. I didn't learn about the code until later when a magazine published it. I think I had more time to devote for games then too, and without a large library of games, it was easy to focus and get good at the game.

Yeah, Shatter Soldier is difficult to me still. Yet, lots of fun. I will admit I do flow to the path of least resistance weapons on Contra games. Like the spread gun in the originals, or memorization of when to best utilize a power weapon or homing weapon in later games.

In what ways? The only changes I know were the change from humans to robots and the title. I kind of think the human player characters have more personality to me. Then again, I never got a Transformers game I would have wanted then.

I honestly did not know and had no clue.

We're the greatest country in the world, at least we keep telling ourselves that. For reasons.

For PAL only Playstation (1) games, the only ones that I can think of are the Wipeout special edition, and the superior version of Mickey Mania. However, the latter is far from the better Playstation games, it just stands out as probably the best edition/version of the game, which is "alright" at best for a game.

I think the Europeans got a better version of Mickey Mania and supposedly they had better or more music on their version of Wipeout XL. Those the the only cases I can think of where there was a PAL and NTSC release and the PAL was said to be better.

I think there may be cases where the PAL region getting a later release may have bugfixes. I just can't think of any off the top of my head.

There are all those titles which did not release here and somehow got a release in PAL regions. I remember the Dreamcast getting some games which did not get released here in the US like Head Hunter and Shenmue 2. Also Terranigma for the SNES is a real shame that it never got a chance in the US.

There ahs to be some very interesting Master System games in PAL regions because it bombed in the NTSC regions. People keep saying how it did so well in Brazil, so maybe some original content/titles could be great.

Sorry, I had no clue. As a consolation, I read that you got some really sweet versions of the games in this pic for PAL regions.
