>What could have saved it?
Anything else than Commodore and the useless clowns that bought Amiga from it.
>Horrible marketing
>Used 68000 on the original Amiga to save a few bucks instead of 68010, which besides faster, would have saved them compatibility issues down the road.
>Discarded Ranger chipset despite ready because "too expensive", disregarding value of being first to market & people buying the old/lowend model because the new is the best. (original Amiga team understandably mostly left at that point, imagine if you were a brilliant engineer and had to put up with that crap)
>Same deal with AAA, AA+, Hombre
So at the end only released ECS very late (they should have developed it in parallel with Hombre, for a new low end model, and it would have been ready in 1987 for the A500 if anything), then AGA shortly after (instead of AAA or Hombre).
AGA was *still* very good when it was out, but the inertia from the bad marketing and the wasted opportunities meant there was no saving CBM.
