PCSX2 with a VGA CRT running software renderer at native res/refresh and with a DS3 is top comfy though and has great compatibility, the problem with PCSX2 is that the hardware accelerated renderers all are broken, but with a real CRT you don't need the scaling options anyways. I have a Slim and a Fat, both modchipped, Fat has a 500GB HDD (chink SATA adapter with SSD though) full of games too, yet I mostly prefer just playing on the CRT behind the computer.
I think it's mostly because super fast loading and savestates, it's easy to jump in and out of games, plus I have all my games and emulators in one place, I used to prefer having a TV with a battlestation because it was nice to just sit and forget everything and just focus on one thing but honestly have to say the comfort of emulation has win me over by now.

I see no reason to not see emulation as a worthwhile alternative these days.
