Everything you wrote but inverse
>The pillar has the same curve and texture as the opposite wall
>Mario looks fancy and his reflection accurately reveals the lack of staging behind the camera pov
>Torch glow is moody and demonstrates reflections from the floor and from Mario
>Brick in the back is a subtle theatre reference, furthest backstage is a brick wall to maximize stage space (also castles are made of stone bricks)
>The color scheme is like a dreary dungeon, because that's what it is
If the stage was fully fleshed out from its facade it'd look even better.

Guys that say that shit are always full of absolute shit and lie about finding some "hidden gems" on the cheap.
That said, I actually found a few great places simply by looking through google maps for game stores, retro game stores, vintage stores, etc. and making a daytrip of going around and checking them out. It's not gonna be a guarantee you'll find a nice shop simply because it'll depend on your living area and where you're able to go, being out in the sticks isn't gonna be easy to search through compared to, say, California's Bay Area cities where there's a non-gamestop every 5 miles, but you should at least try to seek something out.
Have some official MyNintendo wallpaper.
