Ok. So we all know how /vr/ feels about save states. But what about when a game gives you passwords to each level, and whenever you run out of lives you just enter the password and start exactly where you left off? What's the difference really from an objective standpoint?

I usually hated games that used symbols or non-traditional letters in passwords, but the SNES Indiana Jones game had really short and easy passwords in Greek.
