I always thought to myself that Kirby was on the precipice of being outright girly, but the world is abstract enough to not tetter over the edge, plus Kirby and Ribbon totally had the hots for each other and I initially thought that HAL introduced her as a permanent love interest in the regular cast, I always got funny looks when my Smash Bros friends called Kirby a "she" and I said "but Kirby's a 'he' because he has a girlfriend!" Things sure were simpler back then.
