you ever noticed how in software mode, walls are always rendering going straight up and down on the screen, and that things distort in really weird ways when looking up or down?
that's what y-shearing looks like, since all that's really happening is that the software renderer just renders what you'd see when looking straight forward, then shifts around what part of it you see when you look up or down.

in this webm, first part shows what y-shearing looks like, and the second part shows what proper perspective looks like

as for the whole "gzdoom is hard to set up" bullshit, hey it's not my fault graf doesn't understand the idea of having some presets to choose from when you first start the game. he just doesn't care.
