>says the one guy touting the shitty soundtrack

Look, I get it, its the one that sticks out in your head because the first time you played Resident Evil was on your PS3 when you downloaded it on sale, and now you're forever cursed to have that as your memory of the first RE's music. Sucks to be you. Don't take it out on the rest of us.

>You can skip CV altogether though.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean its appropriate to skip. I don't give a shit about your laundry list of nitpicky complaints, its an integral part of the franchise that contains at least 2 major plot points and a bunch of background fluff that later gets expanded on.

The graphics actually come out pretty good for a GBC game.

My problems are as follows:

-Certain Weapons don't spawn until a certain point in the game, even though you can reach the areas they would be found in.

-There is no onscreen indication there is an item nearby until you are standing on top of the thing, with the exception of... files.

-There is no indication what keys go to which doors. Its vaguely hinted at, but until you run up to the door, open the menu, navigate to the key, and use it, you have no concrete idea.

-combat is terrible. Time the bouncing icon against a bar. They could have gone with combat similar to Metal Gear, or had the first person combat let you control the Icon and either swing it quickly and overshoot the center of the bar, or move it slowly and risk having a zombie get close, instead its a crummy timing minigame.

-The game more or less implies Leon is dead or MIA. This was before RE4 came out, and the ending is a shitty cliffhanger that will never be addressed.

If you were to compare Metal Gear to Metal Gear Solid, you can see they are fundamentally the same game: same mechanics, same stealthy approach, same tone. One just had better technology.

Compare RE:Gaiden to RE, and the only things similar are the IP.

Welp, in the middle of my yearly Resident Evil saga playthrough. About to hit the worst of the bunch.
