It's not really mysterious, it's more that she died of an illness and all the details were not released. She was into HIV/AIDS activism, and people speculate she had it. That would have weakened her immune system, making her more succeptible.

But calling her an AV star is wrong, since she successfully pivoted to "normal" media after that. The back of the box hypes up Ai Ijima a lot.

Anyone have Hippon Super or other SFC themed magazines from 1995? I'd love to see what if any coverage Pop'n got. I'd love to see a proper scan of the ad as well.

I just think it's a quality game with good art, near perfect action gameplay, and cutesy aesthetic. I didn't even know about the JAV connection. A modern 16:9 port like the Natsume re-releases with better voice samples would be baller.

As far as I can tell the game never got a guidebook or anything. It was even obscure even in Japan. It looks like a late SFC release from some small company that folded right afterwards so they didn't have the clout to create a big ad campaign or anything. I doubt there was even a dev interview.

An issue of Famitsu had a preview of the game and an ad and thats' all anyone's ever found.
