/vr/ - Retro Games

I don't know if it would have save it or not, but damn I love these games.
I didn't get to play them back in the day but through emulation I've played a lot of C64/Amiga games.
They tend to be way more experimental and niche. The controls were a bit more wonky, but damn do they have character and I wish other Americans would check them out.
I just finished playing pic related recently. There is like 0 info on the net about it. So I tracked down its manual and beat it in about 2-3 days. It was a really fun experience.

I've been playing this game called "Blade Warrior" on an Amiga emulator.
It really has gotten me into the halloween mood.
You walk around this haunted forest looking for "artefacts" and talking to wizards. You trade the artefacts to the wizards to get tablets that, once complete, you take to a sorcerer who enchants your sword for it. Then you kill the boss.
The boss reminds me a lot of jason. He wanders around the map and if he catches you he traps you in his own personal hell. Getting caught early on is real painful.
Also, the phase of the moon displays your health. I thought that was neat.
I recommend it if you are familiar with Amiga games and know what you're getting in to.

Clunkiest movement and combat in the world, but I loved it. The atmosphere spooked the hell out of me as a kid, in part because my copy was pirated and I had literally no clue what I was doing - only served to make it all the more oppressive and mysterious.
