Majora's Mask tries to squeeze more combat mechanics than OoT had into a game that's less than half as long (dungeon-wise, at least), and the results really show. You get the grossly overpowered Gilded Sword only after completed the second dungeon, making almost every fight afterwards a snap. And then there's stuff like getting the "shielded" hearts after the third dungeon, which make death almost impossible short of extreme incompetency.

I can't say I know the Water Temple 100% perfectly, but I'm pretty sure that key is essential, since if it wasn't I think most people would progress through the dungeon pretty smoothly, instead of getting stuck on that very part and isolating it as the single worst aspect of the dungeon's design.

Not him either, but the war that's implied to have happened before the game takes place seems so distant from the rest of the game, and I think it's a little silly to try and put together fan theories like the Poe Sisters being victims of rape or whatever based on stuff that's already extremely loosely fit into the game.

Usually when I play old games I just assume most of the minute, cryptic things are just the result of the developers wanting some particular aesthetic or what have you because it looked cool.... Not that all fan theories are bogus, or stupid, but a lot of them just make the games they relate to seem far more thought out and complex than they actually are.
