Yeah, it's the scuffing like you pointed out. That's the big red flag.

From what I understand, the way they do it is they cut it slightly and softly on the side to get the game out and then replace it for *insert whatever vydia you want to sell at high price*. You still need an actual factory seal game to do it but it's worth it if there's some cheap copies laying around.

Signs are generally wear on the outside (like scuffing, removed stickers), in the case of PS1 games searching for the proper CD and manual colours when you add some light on the bottom or upper part of the case, and see if the seal has been tampered with (because they glue back the part that's been cut). You can also weight the game but you need a database to match yours or it's worthless.

It's no easy job when it's really well done.
